According to the Commerce Ministry's Wuhan Branch, overseas investment in Hubei Province increased substantially in the first half of 2009.

As of the end of June, 41 countries and regions around the world had set up 117 operating agencies and enterprises in Hubei Province, and the foreign direct investment had totaled 380 million USD.  From January to June, 9 new foreign-invested enterprises were approved, and the total investment reached 64.18 million USD.
