(Xinhua) The first agriculture ministers meeting of “BRICs” (Brazil, Russia, India and China) was recently held in Moscow, during which time the agriculture ministers of the four countries attached great importance to exchange opinions on such issues of jointly coping with the global food security, alleviating the impact of climate change on agriculture and strengthening exchanges and cooperation of information and agricultural science and technology and signed the Moscow Declaration of Ministers of Agriculture and Agriculture Development of “BRICs”.
The meeting confirmed the key areas of recent agriculture cooperation of “BRICs”, mainly including the establishment of the information exchange mechanism of the production and consumption of agricultural products and population growth of the four countries; sharing the experience in grain production and public purchase to better formulate the strategy of guaranteeing the food supply for the least disadvantaged groups; reducing the negative impacts of climate change on food security to get agriculture production to better adapt to climate change; and strengthening agricultural technology and innovation. |
