Industrial companies in 22 regions, except Bejing, Inner Mongolia, Hunan, Guangdong, Anhui, Hainan, Chongqing, and Tibet, realized profit of 322.7 billion yuan and revenue of 7,826.7 billion yuan in the first quarter, down 32.2 percent and 0.7 percent year-on-year respectively, accoding to the result from China's Statistical Bureau.

Even though both profit and revenue were down on yearly basis, they both decreased at lower rates compared with the first two months of this year.  Profit drop slowed 7.3 percentage, and revenue decline reduced 2.0 percentage over first two months.

 

Compared with the first two months, 18 of the 39 industrial sectors either increased profit or reduced loss in March. Non-ferrous metal smelting and rolling processing industry profited 1,110 million yuan, compared with net loss of 940 million yuan in the first two months.  Profit of oil processing and coking industry increased to 17.39 billion yuan from 8.19 billion yuan in the first two months.  Chemical fiber industry gained 230 million yuan, instead of lossing 160 million yuan over the first two months.  Total loss of electric power industry reduced 650 million yuan over first two months.
