China's automobile production and sales in May were 1.1069 and 1.1197 million units respectively, down 4.56% and 3.11% from April, but up 29.60% and 34.02% from May 2008.  It is the third consecutive month with production and sales both above the 1 million unit mark, according to the release by China Association of Automobile Manufacturers.

Normally, auto production and sales are slower in May relative to March and April, but this year's production and sales in May were above normal.  As a result, auto production and sales from january to May were up 11.10% and 14.29% respectively year-on-year.  Overall, the auto market perspective looks bright.
