China' National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) issued its 18th report about China's economic development. The report said China contributed 19.2 percent of the world economic growth in 2007, up from 2.3 percent in 1978. It also showcased the improving international status and influence of new China over years of development.
According to the NBS, China's gross domestic product (GDP) was $30 billion in 1952, more than doubled by 1960, and reached $3.86 trillion in 2008, the world's third largest economy.
Even so, China is still a developing country. In terms of gross national income per capita, China was ranked 130th by the World Bank among 209 countries and regions.
