China Non-financial Direct Investment Overseas Exceeding USD 30 Billion in the First Three Quarters PDF Print E-mail

According to Ministry of Commerce statistics, for the first three quarters of the year, Chinese investors made direct investment in 1,612 overseas enterprises in 112 countries and regions. The total non-financial investment overseas amounted to USD 32.87 billion, up 0.5% year-on-year.

Direct investment overseas in the third quarter hit USD 20.47 billion, up by 190.4% year-on-year and 135.3% quarter-on-quarter. Overseas direct investment in the third quarter exceeded the total of the first two quarters. This is a first-time increase in China’s non-financial direct investment overseas in 2009.

Statistics show that the number of countries (regions) to which China's overseas direct investment made of more than USD 100 million in the first three quarters reached 17, 4 more compared with that in previous year. Direct investment realized by means of acquisition reached USD 14.3 billion, accounting for 43.5% of China’s total in the same period, the acquisition mainly involved in mining and manufacturing industry.
