Around 5:25pm today (China time), a terrible accident happened in one of PetroChina's (PTR) refineries in Landzhou, a provincial capital of a northwest province in China. This accident has not been reported in any English media. 

It was reported that explosion could be felt 17 km away.  The nearby air smelled terrible and many people were injured.  The details are not clear.

Even though PetroChina has many refineries, this accident will definitely put a dent into the company's financials.  Following the accident, there will be company wide security and safety reviews.  Not to mention the direct loss from this accident alone.
