SMIC on Tuesday announced that it will pay $200 million and give the right to purchase up to 10 percent of the company to Taiwan-listed TSMC to settle lawsuits between the two. The settlement cost CEO Richard Chang's job.
China Automotive Systems, Inc. (CAAS), a leading power steering components and systems supplier in China, Thursday announced record financial results for the third quarter. Net sales increased organically 75% YoY to a new quarterly sales record of $64.7 million; Net income rose 210.2% YoY to a quarterly record $8.6 million; Diluted EPS were a quarterly record $0.28 versus $0.09 in the third quarter of 2008.
China Automotive Systems, Inc., (the "Company"), (CAAS), a leading power steering components and systems supplier in China, today announced record financial results for the third quarter and nine months ended September 30, 2009.
China Yuchai International Limited (CYD) reported its Q3 results on Tuesday. Net revenues for the third quarter of 2009 were RMB 3,488.4 million (US$ 510.8 million) compared with RMB 3,448.0 million (US$ 504.7 million) in the second quarter of 2009. Gross profit was RMB 582.2 million (US$ 85.3 million) in the third quarter of 2009, representing a 21.2% increase over the gross profit of RMB 480.2 million (US$ 70.3 million) in the second quarter of 2009. The gross margin was 16.7%, a 2.8% improvement over the gross margin of 13.9% for the second quarter of 2009. Net income was RMB 248.6 million (US$ 36.4 million), or earnings per share of RMB 6.67 (US$ 0.98), in the third quarter of 2009 compared with RMB 49.6 million (US$ 7.3 million), or earnings per share of RMB 1.33 (US$ 0.19) in the second quarter of 2009.
Hong Kong Highpower Technology, Inc. (HPJ) reported its Q3 results on Thursday. Net sales for the third quarter ended September 30, 2009 increased 2.8% to $21.1 million, compared to $20.5 million for the third quarter ended September 30, 2008. Gross profit for the third quarter ended September 30, 2009 increased 48.7% to $5.2 million, compared to $3.5 million for the third quarter ended September 30, 2008. Net income for the third quarter of 2009 was $2.4 million, or $0.18 per diluted share, based on 13.6 million weighted average shares outstanding. This compares with third quarter 2008 net income of $289,400, or $0.02 per diluted share, based on 13.6 million weighted average shares outstanding, and second quarter 2009 net income of $969,000, or $0.07 per diluted share, based on 13.8 million weighted average shares outstanding.
The rally of China Eastern Airlines Corp. (CEA) shares came after the carrier said it received conditional approval for a private stock placement of up to 1.35 billion yuan ($198 million) in Shanghai-listed shares. It said it is still awaiting final approval from the China Securities Regulatory Commission for the placement, which a Dow Jones Newswires report said would go to 10 institutional investors at a minimum price of 4.75 yuan apiece.
Telestone Technologies Corporation (TSTC) announced record results Thursday. Third quarter 2009 revenues increased 124.7% to $18.9 million year-over-year; gross margins were 52.7%. Net income increased 281.8 % to $4.2 million year-over-year with net margins of 22.3%; EPS was $0.41 vs. $0.11 year-over-year.
Kandi Technologies, Corp. (KNDI) announced Thursday that it has completed the sale of 30 modified, electric COCO hardtops to the Jinhua City Postal Service there. These are the Company's first sales of its all-electric COCO super mini car in China.
The TBV performance was a little strange. On Friday, Tiens Biotech Group (USA), Inc. (TBV) reports its results. Revenue for the third quarter of 2009 was $9.4 million, compared to $26.2 million for the third quarter of 2008. Net income for the third quarter of 2009 was $2.9 million, or $0.03 per share, compared to net income of $14.6 million, or $0.20 per share, for the third quarter of 2008. It is unclear why these numbers helped to push the company's stock to jump.
Yingli Green Energy Holding Company Limited (YGE), one of the world's leading vertically integrated photovoltaic ("PV") product manufacturers, announced its Q3 results Friday. Total net revenues were RMB 2,225.2 million (US$326.0 million) and PV module shipment volume increased more than 80% quarter over quarter. Gross profit was RMB 447.6 million (US$65.6 million), with a gross margin of 20.1%. Operating income was RMB 242.8 million (US$35.6 million), with an operating margin of 10.9 %. Net income was RMB 120.8 million (US$17.7 million) and diluted earnings per ordinary share and per American depositary share ("ADS") was RMB 0.79 (US$0.12). On an adjusted Non-GAAP basis, net income was RMB 184.2 million(US$27.0 million) and diluted earnings per ordinary share and per ADS was RMB 1.20 (US$0.18).
Harbin Electric, Inc. (HRBN) announced its Q3 results Tuesday. Total revenues were $46.93 million, up 18% from 3Q08 and 22% from 2Q09 respectively. Adjusted net income was $10.95 million, up 41% and 48% from $7.75 million and $7.42 million in 3Q08 and in 2Q09 respectively. Operating profits were $13.04 million, up 24% and 48% from $10.52 million in 3Q08 and $8.82 million in 2Q09, respectively. However, GAAP earnings per diluted share were negative $0.07.
Xinyuan Real Estate Co., Ltd. (XIN) announced its Q3 results Monday. Total revenues were US$128.2 million, compared to US$91.8 million in the second quarter of 2009 and US$83.0 million for the same period of 2008. Net income was US$15.4 million, compared to net income of US$3.9 million in the second quarter of 2009 and US$7.9 million for the same period of 2008. Diluted net income per share attributable to ordinary shareholders was US$0.10, compared to diluted net income per share of US$0.02 in the second quarter of 2009, and diluted net income per share of US$0.05 in the third quarter of 2008. |
